Training
The District’s Training Division is dedicated to ensuring that every member is equipped with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to deliver exceptional service to our community. It is led by Division Chief Colin Brunt, Training Captain Dan Grein, and Lieutenant Kenny Rosales. In addition, the division is supported by a team of experienced subject matter experts (SMEs) who serve as instructors, guiding both hands-on drills and classroom-based learning. These SMEs play a crucial role in reinforcing key skills through practical exercises and theoretical sessions designed to challenge and develop our personnel.
The division’s training programs are specifically tailored to maintain the highest standards of emergency response and service. In addition to meeting the everyday training needs of the District, the division manages a comprehensive array of specialty programs designed to prepare our personnel for a wide variety of emergency situations. These programs include specialized response protocols for hazardous materials (HAZMAT), wildland firefighting, active shooter incidents, trench rescue, swift water rescue, and confined space rescue. Each of these areas is critical to ensuring our department can respond effectively to complex and diverse emergencies.
In addition to its core training responsibilities, the Training Division actively explores and integrates new technologies, equipment, and techniques. By staying ahead of industry trends and advancements, the division ensures that the department remains capable of providing the most effective and efficient services possible. This forward-thinking approach allows us to continually refine and improve our methods, ensuring that our team is ready to face both current and emerging challenges.
As a member agency of the North Area Fire Training Academy, the District benefits from a vast network of resources, including access to state-of-the-art training facilities, specialized equipment, and collaborative training opportunities with neighboring agencies. This affiliation enhances our capabilities and ensures that our personnel have the resources and support needed to excel in their roles.
The Training Division’s guiding motto, “Smarter, Stronger, Safer,” reflects our commitment to continuous improvement, ensuring our members are not only well-prepared but also resilient, adaptable, and capable of providing the highest level of service to the community.
