The Operations Division is the largest division within the Brighton Fire Rescue District. The Division is under the supervision of the Deputy Fire Chief and is comprised of three shifts each staffed by a Battalion Chief, one Captain, five Lieutenants, five Engineers and five Firefighters. The Operations division carries out the primary functions of the Brighton Fire Rescue District, responding to a wide array of requests for services such as: fire suppression, emergency medical, vehicle extrication, technical rescue and hazardous materials response.

The Operations Division supports the North Area Technical Rescue Team that can respond to and aid in emergency calls such as building collapse, confined space rescue, rope rescue and trench rescue. Firefighters assigned to the technical rescue team must put in many hours of training to learn and maintain the special skills needed to provide these services.

The Operations Division also supports the Adams-Jefferson Hazardous Response Authority, the Haz-mat Team responds to and aids in the mitigation of hazardous material emergency calls including but not limited to fuel spills, drug labs, special hazards related to terrorism and environmental crimes. Firefighters assigned to the Haz-mat Team are trained to the Hazardous Materials Technician level and must put in many hours of training to learn and maintain the special skills needed to provide these services.
