Adams County Justice Elevator Upgrade #24-01940 (Fire Alarm)
To Brighton Fire Department,
We are currently working under an approved permit for the Adams County Justice Elevator Upgrade #24-01940 – Fire Alarm.
During the course of the work, it was discovered that the elevator is not a typical traction elevator as originally assumed. It is an MRL elevator, with the motor located at the top of the hoistway and sprinklers located at the bottom. Additionally, there are existing smoke and heat detectors at the top of the hoistway.
With this information, it appears that the scope of work permitted under the approved plans does not fully align with these field conditions and the fire alarm requirements for this elevator type. We’d like to add a 190 linear heat for shunt trip in the pit and retain/ replace the top of the shaft smoke detector for an elevator recall. Would that be acceptable?
We want to ensure that the work is completed correctly, in compliance with applicable codes, and in a way that is as straightforward as possible for all parties involved. We would appreciate your guidance on the best path forward—whether that involves a plan revision, permit modification, or another recommended approach.
Thank you for your time and assistance. We look forward to your direction on how to proceed.
