Training
The district’s training division is dedicated to ensuring that our members have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide extraordinary service. The division is staffed by Division Chief John Blunt and Training Captain Brad Cogburn. On-duty Lieutenants serve as additional instructors for practical drills and classroom sessions.
All training is focused on providing and maintaining the highest quality emergency services. In addition to ensuring the day-to-day training needs of the district are being fulfilled, the training division is tasked with managing a variety of specialty programs that include hazardous materials response, wildland firefighting, active shooter incidents, trench rescue, swift water rescue and confined space rescue.
In addition to the traditional training roles, the training division is also tasked with researching new equipment and techniques to ensure our department is able to provide the most effective and efficient services possible.
The district is a member agency of the North Area Fire Training Academy. Our affiliation with the Fire Academy provides the department with access to a wide assortment of training facilities and equipment.
The Training Division’s motto is, “Smarter, Stronger, Safer.”
