Why Join our Fire Family?

Joining the fire service isn’t just about putting out fires—it’s about becoming part of a family, a community bound by a shared purpose. The value of this family extends beyond the training and the uniforms; it’s about having a team you can rely on, no matter the challenge. In the fire service, every member plays an essential role, and each person’s commitment to serving others creates an unbreakable bond. Whether you’re answering an emergency call, supporting a fellow firefighter through difficult times, or celebrating victories together, the fire family is there every step of the way. It’s an opportunity to make a real difference in your community while forming lifelong relationships with those who have your back—just as you have theirs.

What to expect from Brighton Fire's hiring process?

We’re looking for good people.

When a candidate shares our values and fits with our fire family, we are eager to meet them! While experience and qualifications are essential, we believe the job can be taught, so we welcome all candidates to interview. Our training process thoroughly prepares candidates to work as Firefighter/EMTs, and they receive a full salary during their training.

We want to get to know you.

Our approach stands apart from traditional methods because we strive for non-traditional outcomes. Our goal is to identify exceptional candidates and build strong relationships with candidates through consistent, intentional communication that extends beyond the interview process. You can expect phone calls to check in, to extend resources, and to offer the opportunity for you to have your questions answered. Many departments’ hiring processes don’t allow you the chance to get to know them and we wanted to change that. In order for you to make the best decision about your future, we believe it’s important for you to get to know us too.

There’s only so much you can learn about us from our website, so for anyone considering applying or in the application process, we strongly encourage you to spend a day doing a ride along with one of our crews. Email questions@brightonfire.org for more information and to make your request.
